Addiction, obsession, craving, fanatical, absorbed, enthralled… There could be an endless supply of more words that are close to “addiction”, but I will stop there.
Generally the majority of these words have bad connotations with them. I don’t know of any time where being “addicted” to something was a good thing. But I would like to challenge that assumption. This may be a wrong conclusion, but I am fine with that.
I want to be addicted to Christ.
I want to be addicted to the Gospel.
I want to be addicted to life change.
I want to be addicted to the Bible.
I want to be addicted to prayer.
I want to be completely and wholly obsessed with Jesus and what he said. So obsessed that I will go to the ends of the earth and even to death to follow and obey him.
I believe he has called us to radical obsession.
“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:26, NASB)
Live addicted to Him. Live in radical obsession to Him. Live craving Him. Live fanatically for Him. Live a life absorbed by Him. Live enthralled by Him.
